Legislating for the inherently stupid

Once again, we are legislating for the inherently stupid!

The U.S. Senate on Monday approved a June 12th date for transitioning to digital television broadcasting

Seriously? Why must we always pander to the lowest common denominator in this country? If these lazy and or stupid people who are "unprepared" for the digital switch over are still not ready (after two years of this going into place) trust me, they will still not be ready in another 5 months!

From what I can understand so far though, is that the bill is not dictating a mandatory date. Which means, the cable companies can switch when they want... IF they want. I would hope this would be the case. Especially since I can not imagine, especially in our current economy, that the cable companies wish to continue support (and dumping money) into the old analog infrastructure any longer than they have to.

Oscar snubs

Well, the Academy Award Nominations are in! The ones for Best Picture are:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Frost/Nixon

Milk

The Reader

Slumdog Millionaire

So, with that out there.. Let me say.. What BULLSHIT!! LoL Are you fucking kidding me? These are the nominations? No Dark Knight? No Wall-E? What a complete joke! Dark Knight and Wall-E did not even get nominations for Best Score!

I mean, come on, Dark Knight took in over $500 million! How do they chose these nominations? By dart board?

As if you needed proof

I *just* posted no more than a week ago about the death of film and reign of digital in photography. I just ran across this photo and it SO sums up our current situation regarding camera use.

A Dark day for America

Well, here we are. A big, big day tomorrow! You all know what I mean right? The inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama! With that will come the downfall of this country. Yes, take a second and read that. The decline and downfall of this country as the Democrats take hold with Obama at the helm.

Here are a few of my sad predictions for the future:

* Higher taxes, less spending, economy becomes even weaker than it is now
* Cuts in defense spending, weakening our ability to defend ourselves and project power
* Democrats blaming everyone else for their failures, in particular, the Bush adminstration
* Obama administration trying to "make friends" with Arab nations and Terrorists, only finding that, surprise, they hate Americans no matter what party. This misjudgement will cost this country as we are hit again in some fashion while we are complacent.

Just a few thoughts.. but let's watch history, shall we? Enjoy your new President. We can all see how much he really cares for this country...

Film is DEAD, get over it!

Working in the photo industry I can tell you, in case you are living under a rock, that digital photography has taken over. Period. End of story. That said, I do NOT understand this fixation that I have been seeing lately - why the fuck are some of you hanging on to your film cameras like they are gold?!

I have been having customers bringing in their old film cameras trying to get them fixed or extend the life on them.. what the FUCK people? Stop it!! Film is dead! You look like absolute idiots! It's like walking around trying to get someone to make your cassette player work! The time has passed! Either get off your cheap asses and buy a digital camera (you know, you can get them for like $80.00 now!) or just stop your personal crusade to resurrect your film garbage! I am tired of dealing with your stone age relics!

So, to end this public service announcement. Your film cameras are boat anchors. Digital is the not the future, it is the present. Please get with the times and stop your whining!

Big things come in small packages

OK, I admit, I have been lazy! A week since all the Christmas rush bullshit has ended, I have just been relaxing this week... now, back to blogging!

The woman and I have adpoted a new pet! It is an adorable kitty we have named.. Fang! hmmph, ok, I wanted to name it Fang, however, we have now settled on "Alexa"...

The cat is hugely adorable and is super tiny as it is only 5 weeks old. Already though, it has brought much joy! She keeps managing to find her way into the smallest and out of the way places. Our first night it took us 30 minutes of frantic searching to find out her little hiding spot. Now if I can just cat proof all my computer cables, I will be able to sleep at night.

So, without further ado, here she is!

How CUTE!
