Black Friday, again.

Ah... its Thanksgiving. Yes, indeed, another year for families to get together, stuff their faces, and pretty much sit around and do a whole lot of nothing. It's a Holiday tradition, don't ya know! However, if you work in retail, there is a whole different side of it. You see, today is a simple precursor, a stand by time, until.. Black Friday.

Tomorrow, at some ungodly hour (I think mine will be around 6am) there will be people massing to the stores in the hopes of grabbing what they think is a deal. A free this, or a free that. A few bucks off this item or that item. Retail has done a great job of programming everyone that this is the day to come shop and the there are really deals to be had out there.

You are all a bunch of suckers. You know what? I am a sucker too! Because I still work in retail! I have to get up at like fracking 4:30am tomorrow to be ready for the masses of consumerism! If I did not work retail, I would not even leave the house tomorrow! Oh, and the first person I run across tomorrow, that actually comes out on Black Friday, with the traffic, and insane masses of people and tells me that they are "just looking"... I may just have to kill them where they stand for their stupidity.

Must I do everything?

Well now.. I might has well have been locked up in a cave the past week. And by cave, I mean work. You see, we had massive failures of equipment over this past week. We are *suppose* to have a technical services manager who is suppose to handle all this shit when it breaks.. or has he says "broked".

Unfortunately, our TSM is a half drunk, worthless, asshat who can barely tell he is walking into the right store some times. SO, what does this mean? It falls to ME to fix every fucking god damn thing we have and do my regular job at the same time! Awesome, no?

So, most of the fires are put out now, thankfully. Only one minor one remains which hopefully I can fix on Monday..

That all said and done, this Christmas selling season has me worried. Granted, Circuit City is sorta out of play. They are closing in our area, so not sure how many folks will want to buy from them knowing they can not return or exchange or get support after December. But, so far for November, it has been DAMN slow out there. Sales are really down. That may change in December I suppose as the gift giving crunch gets closer. But overall, I think it may be a sad season for retail.

Back to the Well

Hmm, Hollywood sure seems sparse on original ideas lately. Seems the vast majority of movies are friggin remakes or "re-imagines" of older movies. Either that, or they are remakes of old cartoons! The only studio that jumps to mind in terms of making original movies is Pixar.

Anyways, sometimes these rehashes can work (Battlestar Galactica) but, mostly, they seem to suck or end up being totally unecessary, as the original movie never needed a remake (ie, the classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still").

So, the next HUGE rehash coming? Well, Star Trek. You see, since they realized they were sequeled out (Voyager and Enterprise hit new realms in physics as they both sucked and blew at the same time) they have decided to "re-imagine" the original. Yes indeed, you will see a new, younger, cast of the orginal Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and the rest of the gang.

Not so sure how well it will go over. Fans of the beloved orginal series and characters may not want a "re-imagining". Though I guess the freshness of it all could be a draw.. regardless, it is coming, and it will be interesting how it will be received.

So, first look at the new U.S.S Enteprise. Out with the old...

In with the new...

Always someone to complain about something

I just caught this info on the web. Unfortunately, it is SO typical these days of everyone and every organization getting all butt hurt about something innocuous.

On Halloween, model Heidi Klum dressed up as the Hindu goddess Kali for her yearly Halloween bash. Her costume was wicked awesome by the way! That is how you need to rock Halloween!

Apparently, thought, this pissed off members of the American Hindu Community! Awe!

A community leader named Rajan Zed has asked Heidi Klum to appologize for posing as a sacred figure:

"Goddess Kali is highly revered in Hinduism and she is meant to be worshipped in temples and not to be used in clubs for publicity stunts or thrown around loosely for dramatic effects… Hindus welcome Hollywood and other entertainment industries to immerse themselves in Hinduism, but they should take it seriously and respectfully, and not just use the religion for decoration or to advance their selfish agenda. Casual flirting sometimes results in pillaging serious spiritual doctrines and revered symbols and hurting the devotees."

Give me a friggin break! I really wish these type of people would get a life. It's Halloween, people dress up as all sorts of things. Quit being such whiny asshats and deal with it.

What have we done

Well, holy shit...

I am not really a big fan of either of our current candidates for President of the United States, but tonight my worse nightmare is coming true. It appears that without much doubt, that Barack Obama will become the next President of the United States.

An incredibly liberal candidate, who will no doubt pull us out of any conflict we are currently in, causing an avalanche of disaster that I believe this country has not seen in many decades. The weakening of our military, more government control and involvement over our citizens, increased taxes and spending (despite what you might have thought..) .. this will be a disaster for our country.

You wanted "change"? Time to pay up. Mark my words. Dark days are ahead for this country with Barack Obama as our leader.
