Creative failure
Creative Labs has long been one of the largest manufacturers of sound cards for computers, despite that fact that they can be sometimes glitchy, either hardware or software wise. Apparently, their Windows Vista drivers for their new line of sound cards are far from perfect. They lack quite a few features found under the Windows XP versions. Creative has not moved to produce new drivers to fix all of the issues. However, someone else has...
User "Daniel_K" took it upon himself to create new Creative drivers for Vista that worked and fixed all the issues. He became a savior to many a Creative card user. His reward for this? Creative Labs kicking him in the nuts.
Today Creative Labs directed Daniel_K to stop creating and distributing his version of the drivers as, according to Creative, it is illegal to do so.
Holy crap Creative! You can't get off your ass to make drivers that work to the point that the issue becomes so great that a lone individual has to to step in and make ones that do work. Then, you go stop on him for doing your job, for free! Amazing!
Creative users and the computer world in general is abuzz with Creatives failure and arrogance. Quite a few Creative users are pissed off and abanding Creative products over this issue.
Daniel_K even posted in the thread directed at him by Creative, he noted that "Creative was faster at "protecting [its] technologies and intellectual properties than providing improved drivers and software for [its] customers."
Great job Creative, I think it will be interesting see how much this issue that has just blown up in your face will cost you over the next few months.
