Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

This past year has most certainly had some bad things as well as some very good things. Such is the flow of life I suppose. I definately prefer the happier things though. But who doesn't, right? Hoping that the upcoming year of 2007 is full of happy, good things. Because, well, life with bad things just sucks!

The woman and I are just kicking it at home tonight catching up on some Battlestar Galactica episodes. The funniest part of the evening though was the woman's excitement at catching the ball drop in her home town of New York. She made the mistake of tuning into the crap local station here - Channel 3.

Apparently they had a pre-new years show running for at least the last half hour. About one minute to midnight, this show ends (roll credits). The station runs a commercial or two and then the local crap news starts and they immediately start showing the New York count down from 10 seconds. Bam! At New Years they hang on the countdown sign for about a second then cut to some couple mashing faces for about 10 seconds, then a cut to the streets of New York which lasted about 2 seconds. Then they cut to downtown Tempe, AZ (where we have our own sad, sad celebration) and they continue with the non-festivies from Tempe!

I was dumbfounded and the woman livid! The words that exited her mouth at that moment would make a Marine blush!

Order has returned

Well, finally things are settling down. The throngs of hysterical and annoying customers have gone. Employees are no longer crazed or run down. Order returns from Chaos.

Today is my day off. A day off! Whoohoo! I plan to take my car in to get a new tire, then seclude myself with food, refreshing beverages, and World of Warcraft for the rest of the day! I have also decided to take new years eve and day off as well, under the thoughts that the store will not be that busy those days (despite an ad). We will see if I am right on that. Hopefully.

I do not drink, so the weekend itself is not a big deal for me. However, the woman drinks heavily and I must stay with her to make sure she gets home alright... haha.. just kidding. The woman is actually off those two days as well so it will give us time to spend, well, quality time together after like zero time over the holidays. I picture a relaxing two days.

I have been checking the news for interesting stories to poke fun at, but it has been relatively quiet. I mean, Mike Tyson was arrested right here in Scottsdale last night.. ppffft.. but like that counts as news! Idiot. Maybe I will talk about that Giant Squid story. Anyone interested in Giant Squids? eh? C'mon, huge friggin squid here...

I made it!

Well, happy Christmas Eve everyone! Most will be pleased to know that I have survived this Holiday Season with only a few mental scars which I am already attempting to block out of my mind.

It will still be busy over the next week or two, but nothing like the past few weeks. I look forward to a far more relaxing and "normal" life starting this week. I can tell you, I have been through a lot of retail Christmas seasons, but this one just kicked my ass.

I look forward to much food and rest over the next day and a half.

Worst.. Day.. Ever..

Yesterday was simply one of the worst days I have ever had to deal with. Work was insane, customers were stupid and obnoxious, and a multitude of other problems and issues created such a fuck fest of day I can not even begin to describe it to you.

If I had any less self control I swear to you I would have thrown my keys on the counter and walked out never to return.

A night of rest has helped - some - but I really do not want to go back in today. I have had it. Please let this Chirstmas season end quickly.

Speaking of which, since I have had zero fucking time to do anything but work, I still need to buy presents! Yes! I can not order online at this point because nothing will arrive in time - even with next day shipping! Go me!

So, I have to take my maybe one day off this week to trudge around and become what I currently despise - a customer - to find presents.

Save me from the holidays. They are no holiday for me.

We call it .. "Digital"...

OK! Finally, a day off! Though, its kinda not still. As I have been doing work stuff and fielding calls from the store for a good part of the day. However, I received my paycheck for Black Friday weekend as well as my Christmas Bonus... so, I am pretty happy! Enough digits to allow me to get through the next two weeks with a smile.

So, my mom was asking me yesterday about where the photographs are from the wedding. I told her they were on DVD. This confused her to no end. You see, she is use to film and prints you get from said film that come in an envelope after you develop them. The whole digital thing.. well.. not getting it.

I was laughing so hard as I tried to explain the concept of what a digital image is, how you view them, and how you can select them to get them printed at home or in a photo store. She kept screaming about wanting to see a "hard copy".. I told her I could bring them over on a CD and she could view them on the computer or the DVD player. She was not having any of that.

I said, ok, well, I can give you the CD and you can go into the store and select the ones you want for printing. She was not having an of that either. It would seem I will have to go there myself and some point and show her the images. Quite amusing conversation though.

Holiday Madness

Sorry for the lack of updates folks, but the Christmas season is kicking my ass! I have not had a whole lot of time this week for updates. I am off this Thursday, so I will throw in a few updates in advance to keep things rolling!

In the meantime, let me sum up the holidays so far:

Stupid people should not reproduce

This week has been insanely busy. In particular, yesterday was just crazy. I rarely ever, ever get to my "threshold" for being totally pissed off, but I reached it yesterday.

We were just SO insanely busy. Tons of people (most of them stupid), a 35 box shipment to deal with, plus computer and equipment failures. The thing that really drove me over the edge was the constant - and I mean constant - deluge of stupid fucking people!

It's Christmas time folks! The stores are packed and the staff are overwhelmed. Do NOT pick this time of year to go in and assume we have all the time in the world to deal with your idiotic, petty questions, requests, or issues.

"OH, I am just getting some information today".

Wrong! There is a catalog, now go away. Next person in line please!

People never cease to amaze me with how oblivious they are to the situation at hand. I can only hope the rest of the week is a bit easier on me, but I doubt it.
