A day off? NAAAH!

Alright, so, another busy ass week. My only day off was to be tomorrow. What happens? I get a call from the bossman asking for my help to clean up one of our stores. Apparently, about 5 managers are going to go to "clean up" this store.

Problem #1: It's my fucking day off!
Problem #2: The store in question is a fucking hour away!
Problem #3: If that stores manager can't take care of his own store, FIRE HIM!

So yeah, I and others have to go "fix" this dudes store because apparently he sucks ass. Just fire the dude. I mean, why the hell should I have to go fix this guys shit? On my day off!?

Well, anyways, I told the boss man I could only put in two hours cuz I had plans. So he was at least cool with that. I also plan on bailing ultra early on Friday as retribution.

Bastards.

I ran across two interesting photos today. First, was this one, showing some PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) boneheads protesting somewhere. Now, look at the pic. Let me tell you what I see. I see four chicks that are probably genuinely interested in animals. Then I see one dude. C'mon now. We all know that this guy is just there for the CHICKS!

This other shot is just one big damn fish. I mean, like this fish must have it's own gravity.

Planning on seeing "War of the Worlds" on Friday. Looks good to me, but I am starting to see very mixed reviews. Seems to swing one way or the other pretty heavily. Either the reviewers are loving it or they are disliking it big time. Damn, I really hope this flick will be good. Let you know Friday.

The word of the day: Heat

Ah yes, another hot one in Phoenix today. Not quite as bad as yesterday, but honestly, when it is 108 or 113, does it really friggin matter?!

Speaking of heat, I have been noticing that my rig (that would be my computer, for the non techys who are reading) has been running a bit hot lately. I originally had a standard stock heat sink fan on the CPU since I built it. It has always run fine, though a bit hot. Even hotter lately. So I figured the crappy stock heatsink thermal pad was breaking down and not doing its job quite as well anymore. (thermal pads suck by the way, they use thermal greese now) So hey, upgrade time!

I threw one of these sweet things on it: a Vantec Aeroflow. A nifty thing it is. Instead of just a simple fan running on a ball bearing, it is a "tip magnetic drive" fan. Basically, it spins by the use of magnets and magnetic force that are used to propel the blade unit around. Plus it is a copper core. So, instead of my processor previously running at a tad warm 135 degrees, it now runs at a much nicer 114 degrees.

Ok, fine. So, that might be a bit boring to some. But THAT's what I did today!

I might have done something a bit more if my woman had come home "earlier" as she had suggested. But, alas, another 8pm arrival time! I really don't blame her though. I know how jobs can be. It happens to me from time to time too. But, well, her job SUCKS cuz it happens to her all the time.

Hell would be a vacation

*wipes sweat from brow*

Ok, so, it was cloudy and overcast today here in Phoenix and it still hit 113 degrees! Christ, it's friggin hot! I could only imagine how hot it would have been today if there was no overcast! I remember a few years ago, we cracked 123 degrees for a few days. The airport here had to shut down as NO aircraft had been tested in that high of heat so they did not know how the planes would react! Crazy stuff.

I have tomorrow off. Yay! Not sure what I am going to do yet, though. Probably chill out, mostly. I also have inventory at the store this Sunday - major suckage. Inventories suck! I am hoping it will go smooth with as little mess as possible. It was to be my day off. Figures, don't it?

Oh! Anyone wanna see a FAT baby? I can only assume "sweet" in Chineese translates to Fat! Perhaps some secret Chineese genetic experiment gone awry.

Cool things and boring things

Fathers Day has come and gone. Overall it was pretty nice. Spent half the day at the womans folks then the evening at mine. I admit though, sometimes these family functions bore me a bit quickly. Depends on my mood I think. But always good company and ALWAYS good food! yay!

Though, my Aunt and Uncle were at my folks that evening. Unfortunately, they chose to ramble on to my inlaws about their various and never ending medical problems. For God's sake, c'mon! Can't we talk about anything but crap like that? I don't want to hear your medical issues, I don't want to hear what the doctor did to you, and I don't want to hear what you had to swallow. I was feeling really bad for my inlaws having to sit through this and smile. I wanted to stand up and apologize. Sorry, but if all you can do is talk about your medical problems, you need a God damn hobby.

I just got done watching one of the last episodes in this seasons Justice League. Now, I have to tell you, this show rocks. Especially this current season. What does show have going for it? Well, everything! Great writing, great character development, continuity out the wazoo, great action and suspense. This thing keeps my on the edge of my seat yelling at the TV. I think, though, that it is a sad commentary on the state of today's television programming that a well done and well thought out animated show totally kicks the crap out of everything else on TV.

Fathers Day

Hmm, I am noticing that the time between my posts lately is averaging about 6 days. That sucks! Work is really sucking too much time away lately. Matter of fact, last night, that's all I really did was dream about being at work. Now that is some MAJOR suckage right there.

Well, today is Fathers Day! So, Happy Fathers Day, Dad!! Of course, today being a holiday, myself and my woman will spend it frantically dividing our time amongst both sets of parents! Heading to her folks first, then my folks later in the evening. Funny thing about Holidays it seems, is that it's not really a day off!

Alas, my Woman is a bit on the grumpy side today. I think maybe her crappy job really puts her on edge and she ends up a bit more... aggressive and ticked off when she is home. It's ok though, I can take it. God knows she put up with me when I was with Canon and having a shit time of it

We went and saw Batman Begins last night. This is a brand new, "start over" for Batman in the movies. God knows that the shit that came before was, well, some really gay ass shit. They made that stuff so goofy and over the top it was beyond stupid. Batman is the friggin Dark Knight for God's sake. He is suppose to be a scary dude with major issues and mad skills.

Well, they finally got it right. It was a good flick and stayed true to the character. Gotham looked like a city people would actually live in. All of Batman's weapons and gadgets had background and were feasible within the world. Great background on what actually drives Batman, as well. So, recommended! The next flick up will be War of the Worlds on the 29th.

Spookyness

Ah, you know, growing up with an Italian mom, food ends up becoming a key point in life. There end up being those items that you just love it when "mom makes em". My four cases in point:

1) Anything Italian, but most importantly, Lasagna.
2) Waffles (yes waffles)
3) Pineapple upside down cake
4) Chocolate pudding pie

Now, much to my surpise. My woman called my mom to get the recipe for #4. The woman ended up making it the other night. Hope beyond all hope, it was actually DAMN GOOD! (almost as good as yours, mom) *wink*

Have to play both sides on this folks.. you know how that is...

So, now, moving on to the SPOOKYNESS! For those of you who may or may not follow the paranormal. There are things refered to as "Orbs". They are moving or floating balls of light associated with ghostly activity. You may have seen video of them before or photographs. If not, do a quick search on the net for them. Kinda spooky shit, especially the videos.

A photographer friend of mine mentioned that she had taken some photographs up at Northern Arizona University. To be more specific, the graveyard that is right outside the campus. She said she had caught some bizzarre items on there. Items that she felt were Orbs. She also mentioned that this area is known for some paranormal activity.

She brought in the images today and I looked at them. All of these images were taken with a 4 megapixel point and shoot camera. The images here are the full images. You can download them and zoom in on them to check them out a little closer.

The first image is pretty wild. There is obviously an Orb right over the girls heads. Now, this is not a reflection or lens aberation. It is not a rain drop, or snow, or dust. There is something there. Am I saying it is a ghost? Dunno. Does it fit the perfect description of an Orb. Yeah.

Image 1

Now the second image was taken pretty much without a flash. Or at least, the flash did not reach all the way out. You can see a lamp light (the brighter light) in the background. There is another light off to the left that she also felt was an orb. I zoomed in on that little light and once again it does not fit a pattern of a reflection or lens aberation. Feel free to zoom way in on it and tell me what YOU see.

Image 2

Now, I was curious to see if that little orb was hovering over something interesting, like a gravestone. So I decided to lighten the image. When I did, it friggin floored me. There are Orbs through out the image! Could some of these simply be dust or pollen particles. Yeah, I'd say so. But look around. In particular the Orb that is all the way to the right of the image, about center frame. This one and a few others are a greenish, purplish item.

Image 3

Do I believe in ghosts? Actually, I do. Am I saying these are ghosts or Orbs? Dunno. I sure think they are some interesting photographs, however. I would be interested to hear some folks opinions after looking at these.

Not quite a Queadluun-Rau...

Woah. Like, has it been a whole week since I posted last? Damn. Yes it has.

Work has had my attention, alas. Some of the head honchos were coming down this week so we had do that mad scramble to make sure everything was just perfect. You know the drill. Well, they came and went today. Balance is again restored to the universe.

Now, onto the "ain't that shit cool" point of the week. Being a Japanimation fan, the things that are featured constantly are mecha and powered armor. For the uninformed... mecha typically refers to the "giant robot" types and powered armors are powered body suits that fit closely around the user. Things like these have been in the realm of fantasty and science fiction for a while. Examples of powered armor like the Robotech Cyclone and Zentraedi Queadluun-Rau.

So, it was only a matter of time.

The Japaneese have released a prototype powered suit. No armor or weaponry yet, but I am sure that will come in time. You can catch the story and a photo of the thing here. Pretty wild stuff. A sign of the times to come, to be sure. I can see the powered armored troops of anime as a future reality.
